Match 1:

Chelsea         Vs        Man City

Prediction: 1               :            1

Comment:

The Blues would most likely feel the effect of their exertions at the San siro last Wednesday night and may find it tough break down the Citizens just like Man Utd did last weekend against the Toffees. The return of Carlos Tevez to Man city’s squad following his recent trip to Argentina would also make City a tougher proposition as they look to bounce back from their F.A cup exit, although Emmanuel Adebayor missing through suspension could have a bad effect on their performance

Match 2   

Birmingham     Vs       Wigan Athletic

Prediction:     1               :                 0

Comment:

Birmingham City has really been very impressive this season and Alex Mcleish has really made them quite compact. They don’t concede too many and curiously what could be  their only  obvious weakness is that they don’t score too many either. Roberto Martinez is really struggling with his Wigan Side at the moment and I see that continuing this weekend.

Match 3:    

Bolton W        Vs       Wolverhampton W

Comment:

Bolton is in a bad place right now and picking themselves up is proving very difficult. thoroughly outclassed by Spurs in the F.A Cup on Wednesday they would imagine it would be an easier time against Wolves but i think they would be wrong. Wolverhampton Wanderers might nick this one in my view.

Match 4:    

Burnley         Vs           Portsmouth

Prediction: 2                         :                             1

Comment

Pompey has finally gone into administration and maybe for once they can put the pressures of their finances behind them and get back to playing football. They been unlucky of late and although they are facing another team there at the bottom with them I feel their misfortunes would continue in this game as they would play better than Burnley but still only hare to settle for a point.

Match 5:       

Stoke C.        Vs             Arsenal

Prediction:     2               :                   2

Comment:

Stoke City are particularly hard to beat especially at the Brittania Stadium. If there’s any team for the job though, the gunners with their crisp ball movement and intelligent play would feel quite capable. However the last time the two sides met in the F.A cup at this stadium, the home team won. I feel this might give them a psychological advantage.

Match 6:    

Tottenham H.     Vs           Everton

Comment:

This should be one of the tougher games coming up this weekend as the Toffees try put aside their Thursday night Europa League exit. They would have a difficult game away to Spur as Harry Recknapp and his Charges would look to keep them in their little abyss. This should be an interesting games with wild tackles, bookings and goals.

Match 7:    

Liverpool             Vs.         Blackburn R.

Prediction:       3                    :                0

Comment:

Although Blackburn was able to blow Bolton W away 3:0 in their last games, Rovers fans shouldn’t expect much from this game. Liverpool and their ‘ Captain Fantastic ‘ are slowly returning to form. Rovers form has been dismal away from home this season and with the return of a certain Fernando Torres into the Liverpool line up, they would look to overpower Rovers.

Match 8:    

Sunderland         Vs.         Fulham

Prediction:      2                  :                1

Comment:

A few eyebrows might raise on this one especially judging by the precarious form of Steve Bruce’s men of late but Roy Hudgson’s men haven’t really faired better lately especially away from home. Sunderland have only managed to get their points at home this season and this should continue this weekend as they look to put their recent disappointments behind them

Carling Cup Final

Aston Villa          Vs.           Man Utd.

Comment:

Take nothing away from Martin O’Neal’s side. They have been compact all season, but the 37 goals they’ve scored in 26 games shows that their potent forward line with the likes of Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Emile Heskey, to name a few are not really as productive as they’ve been in previous seasons. Add that to the inspired form of Wayne Rooney and you might see why I went for Red Army in this one. Villa defeated Man Utd earlier in the season at Old Trafford but Utd have come a long way since then and even with ten men they could have claimed all three points in the reverse fixture a few weeks ago.
